Surf, Gravel and Caves

First Day;

Take the ride to Raglan as in the 1 day option and stop there for a bit of lunch. You can choose to follow the west coast to the remote Kawhia harbour via some fantastic gravel roads if you're comfortable on the loose stuff.

Continue around until you get to Waitomo for the awesome Glow Worm caves with sights and thrills for all.

If you weren't comfortable riding on gravel, a great tar sealed route runs from Raglan to the Waitomo Caves.

Kilometres; +/-292km via gravel route, +/-257km fully sealed route.

Riding time; +/-4.5-5 hours via gravel route, +/- 3-3.5 hours fully sealed route.

Second Day;

If you arrived in Waitomo too late last night to view the caves you will have time this morning before heading off.

Once on the road you ride through some nice back roads on the second day as you head east a little way to follow the shores of Lake Karapiro north.

You get to cross a couple of dams that are part of the hydro electric power generation on the Waikato River which offer some interesting views. You are back on the main Highway 1 for a short while before we get you off that and on to some better back roads to bring you home.
