Four B's

Beaches, Bush, BBQs and of course Bikes.

This is one of my favourites. The kilometres aren't too many for the day but what kilometres you do ride are spectacular.

No towns, no motorways or busy highways. Just quiet coastal and rural roads that twist and turn for the 100 or so kilometres.

To make this day even better we include visits to a couple of beautiful Auckland Regional Parks. The first one to stop at is Tapapakanga, a coastal park with beautiful views over the Firth of Thames towards the Coromandel Peninsula.

After a stop at Tapapakanga for photos and maybe a swim, there is a short ride to the second Regional Park of Waharau. This park is located in a beautiful bush setting with native bush, a crystal clear stream, green grass and wood fired BBQs. Relax, take a bush walk to check out some NZ native birds and flora and fire up one of the BBQs to cook some lunch.

The return home is back tracking the same route as you got there but the ride is certainly worth doing twice. Besides the view is completely different on return.

Total kilometres: +/-55kms one way

Riding time: +/-2 hours return.

Highlights:

Technical riding through tight, twisty and narrow roads.

Beautiful panoramic harbour and rural views.

Two Regional Parks offering both scenic seaside and forest settings.

Completed easily in a relaxed day.
