New Zealand Motorcycle Street Races

A feature of New Zealand road racing is not only the local Superbike series, but also street racing on closed street circuits.  This form of racing is fun-filled and exciting and draws large crowds that can get close to the action.

Boxing Day (the day after Christmas Day) holds the annual street race in the North Island town of Whanganui.  Called the Cemetery Circuit because it races around the towns cemetery, this is New Zealand's premier street race with a fabulous atmosphere, large crowds and exciting racing.

February brings motorcycle street racing to another North Island, town, this time Paeroa.  Another popular event that draws the crowds and keeps them enthralled with close racing and the unique atmosphere and spectacle that is New Zealand street racing.

A street race is also a part of the Burt Munro Challenge held in Invercargill in Southern most New Zealand.  Other events in this popular festival are a beach race, hill climb, speedway and closed circuit road racing.
